| Confidentiality is probably one of the key concerns for our client companies |
Selling a business is a touchy subject. Many owners do not want their staff, customers, suppliers, banks and certainly not competitors to know that they are in the process of selling their business. Only at the appropriate time do they want each relevant group to know that a transaction has occurred and that they have decided to sell. Only at that time are staff, for example, informed that in the coming months a new owner will be taking over.
As confidentiality and discretion are so important, our approach to marketing companies is required to be different. We take a more direct approach and directly target appropriate Buyers in industry sectors that have a good fit with buying a Client company. At the same time, we also have a pool of Buyers that have contacted us about buying a particular business in the past. Buyers are all different. Some look for certain industry sectors (like tourism or restaurants or retail). This is because it is a sector in which they have an interest in or some solid experience in and hence feel comfortable. Other Buyers are new to Canada and wish to run their own businesses, while others look to a life style change and prefer commercial independence than working with larger corporate entities.
In the business brokerage industry it is a statistical truth that only 1 in 4 buyers buy the business that they originally enquired on. It means that 75% end up buying a completely different business. This means that we have individual buyers constantly on the look out for good businesses in numerous sectors.
We promote companies confidentially giving a summary of the business only. We revealing nothing that would allow a person to identify or pinpoint the actual company for sale. Our descriptions are deliberately generic.
We differ from Commercial Realtors as we simply do not use the MLS Service to sell businesses as there is no confidentiality for our Clients.
When a potential Buyer contacts us we follow up with Non-Disclosure Agreements and a private meeting in order to establish the budget, experience, time frame and other characteristics of the Buyer. Once we have screened, made sure they have the financing in place to buy the business and established their genuine and serious interest do we arrange a meting with the current owners. If the Buyer wishes to proceed we prepare all necessary documents, handle all negotiations and assist in bringing the transaction to a successful conclusion.
Our inventory changes monthly. At any given time we have 50 profitable businesses for sale. Feel free to contact us for the up to date inventory.
